Clos Sauvage - Bourgogne Blanc - Vertige - 2024

The estate's Bourgogne Blanc always punches above its weight. Planted on granitic soils, unique for Macon, this Chardonnay, aged 80% in tank and 20% in barrel to maintain freshness is taught yet complex, with an aromatic and enticing nose leading to a fresh, finessed, and layered palate. The trademark is the salinity they obtain on all their whites.

Clos Sauvage is the story of a young family seeking to reconnect with the land through a hands-on, artisanal approach to farming—where human, ecological, and agricultural values come together.

Clos Sauvage Wines

The project of Sophie and David Devynck is the result of endless reflection—shaped by encounters, wine-fueled evenings, professional journeys, and deep personal convictions. After a year wandering through the vineyards of France, they were lucky enough to find a place that truly fit their vision.

Right on the border of Burgundy and Beaujolais, in the village of Leynes, perched atop a hill at 450 meters, with sweeping views over the Saône Valley—Mont Blanc to the east, the Bois de Leynes to the north, and the Roche de Solutré to the west. The Clos is surrounded by chestnut forests, dry-stone walls, natural springs, and wild heathland.

When they arrived, the old vines of the Clos had been left untended, in a truly wild state… Today, they are carefully reclaiming and cultivating 4 hectares, and gradually replanting small islands of vines to best express the unique character of this incredible terroir through their wines… a mix of granitic soils lightly dusted with clay-limestone, elevated at around 400 to 450 meters.

The result? Wines marked by freshness and a vivid, mineral energy.
