Perched at the top of the Boca appellation at 480m Valloni’s old vines (65-35 years) produce wines are structured and especially mineral, with a freshness and acidity all their own. Sass Russ means red stone for the reddish volcanic rocks prevalent in the area. It is a blend of 90% Nebbiolo and 10% Vespolina all aged in stainless steel for freshness and easy drinkability.

Podere ai Valloni is a benchmark producer of Italy’s Alto Piemonte region, producing Boca DOC since the birth of the denomination in 1969. Here cool climate, high altitude Nebbiolo (known locally as Spanna), Vespolina and Bonarda grow on the porphyric soils of the ancient Valsesia super volcano. Farmed organically since 2011 and completely surrounded by forest, the estate is a true jewel of biodiversity.
