Vignoble Pellerin – Mondeuse – Les Etourneaux - 2022
Fermented three ways, this Mondeuse shows the true potential and character of this unassuming mountain grape. Done in thirds: Carbonic, Open Top and Passerillés (open air drying) the result is a wine that exhibits ideal ripeness and character without an ounce of heaviness. Red fruit, raspberry, white pepper, violet with supple tannins and present acidity.

Situated where the Alps meet the Jura mountains, on slopes reaching 60% in places, with soils ranging from clay-limestone scree to glacial moraine, the vineyard was created in 2000 by Jean-Christophe Pellerin who has since partnered with his two sons Lucien and Baptiste.

The 6 hectare estate grows predominately indigenous varieties including a few almost forgotten (Mondeuse blanche, Petite Sainte Marie, Persan, Durif, Chatus, Etraire de la Dhuy) . The estate is managed biodynamically. It is in the same spirit that the work in the cellar is carried out, with natural vinifications, without inputs, to obtain wines that reflect their terroir without artifice.
